abstract | Hypodermic syringe barrels may be made of a polymer of 4-methylpentene-1. The syringe barrels may be sterilized by steam or by irradiation, and are resistant to solvents such as paraldehyde, benzyl benzoate, aniseed oil, ethyl oleate and benzyl alcohol.ALSO:Hypodermic syringe barrels may be made of polymers of 4-methylpentene-1. The barrels may be used in disposable syringes in which the plunger is made of poly 4-methyl-pentene-1, polystyrene, polypropylene, polymethyl methacrylate or a polyamide, and is provided with a rubber piston. The barrels withstand sterilisation by steam or irradiation. |
