titleOfInvention Process for the production of 7-amino-3-phenyl-coumarin compounds
abstract 7 - Amino - 3 - phenyl - coumarin compounds are prepared by: (i) heating a compound of the formula <FORM:1077114/C2/1> in which R is a C1- 5 alkyl radical and Ar1\t is an aromatic radical, with a phenylacetic acid, optionally substituted in the benzene ring, in the presence of a water-removing agent and at least one alkali metal salt of a carboxylic acid, to give a compound of the formula <FORM:1077114/C2/2> wherein Ar2 is an optionally substituted phenyl radical, and (ii) eliminating the acyl group from this product to give a 7-amino-3-phenyl-coumarin.
