abstract | Novel 11 - H - pyrazolo - [31,41:17,16] - estra-4,9,11 - trien - 3 - one and 3 - hydroximino - 11 - H - pyrazolo - [31,41:17,16] - estra - 4,9,11-triene is obtained in a process which comprises reacting 3 - hydroximino - 16 - formyl - estra-4, 9,11 - trien - 17 - one with hydrazine to form 3 - hydroximino - 11 - H - pyrazolo - [31,41:17, 16] - estra - 4,9,11 - triene and reacting the latter with an agent effecting cleavage of the hydroximino group at the 3-position so as to form 11 - H - pyrazolo - [31,41:17,16] - estra-4 9,11-triene-3-one. The cleavage may for example be effected with formaldehyde, levulinic acid or pyruvic acid, or oxalic, sulphuric, hydrochloric, sulphurous, persulphuric or nitrous acids. |
