abstract | The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1074086/C2/1> wherein each of R4 and R5 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group, -NR1R11 is a di-(C1- 6 alkyl) amino group or a saturated heterocyclic amino group having 5 or 6 ring atoms, which may contain a second, optionally C1- 4 alkylated, nitrogen atom or an oxygen atom, each of X and X1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1- 6 alkyl, C2- 6 alkenyl, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy, C1- 4 alkoxy, mercapto, C1- 4 alkylthio, C1- 4 alkylsulphonyl, sulphamoyl, C1- 4 alkylsulphamoyl or di-(C1- 4 alkyl)-sulphamoyl group and more than one substituent may be present on each benzenoid ring, and their preparation by reaction of a compound of formula <FORM:1074086/C2/2> with a Grignard reagent of formula HalMg(CH2)3NR1R11. Cis - 3a, 12b - dihydro - 2 - phenyl - 8H - dibenzo - [3.4:6,7] cyclohepta [1,2 - d] - 1,3 - dioxolan-8-one is prepared by reaction of the corresponding 10,11-dihydroxy-dibenzocycloheptenone with benzaldehyde. |
