titleOfInvention Polymerisable bis-amides
abstract The invention comprises amides of formula <FORM:1071816/C2/1> wherein R0 and R are A, halogen or hydrocarbyl, R1 is H or hydrocarbyl and X is the residue of an aromatic or saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. These amides are made by reacting together the appropriate amines and dicarboxylic acids, or amide-forming derivatives of the latter.ALSO:Compounds of formula <FORM:1071816/C3/1> wherein R0 and R are H, halogen or hydrocarbyl, R1 is H or hydrocarbyl and X is the residue of an aromatic or saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, are polymerized (optionally with a vinyl ether comonomer such as acrolein tetramer) in presence of a known vinyl ether polymerization catalyst, e.g. BF3-etherate. Other vinyl ether comonomers, and catalysts, are listed. Polymerization may be effected under conditions such that a foam-forming gas, e.g. CFCl3, is generated; other ingredients present in examples are an oxyalkylenesiloxane, polypropylene glycol (mol. wt. 425) and diphenylol propane.
