titleOfInvention Process for extracting and recovering kallikrien-and trypsin-inactivating polypeptides
abstract Kallikrein- and trypsin-inactivating polypetides are obtained from animal organs (spleen, pancreas, parotid glands, lung, liver, kidney &c.) by extraction with an aqueous solution containing phosphoric, sulphuric or oxalic acid followed by treating the extract with a metal oxide and/or hydroxide which forms a salt with the acid used having a solubility product less than 10-4, removing the precipitate and adsorbing the polypeptide from the supernatant on an aluminosilicate (natural or synthetic) at pH 5-7 from which it is eluted with an acidified mixture (pH not greater than 3) of a polar organic solvent and water. The eluate may then be further purified by known methods.
