abstract 106,461. Pratt, A. B. May 15, 1916, [Convention date]. Addition to 100,891. Accessories; hats, securing to head; helmets; leathers or sweat bands; linings.-Relates to pistols mounted on the head of the marksman as claimed in the parent Specification, and consists mainly in making the barrel 27, Fig. 1, and the breech frame easily detachable from a receiver or chamber 25, which is arranged with the firing- mechanism on a helmet. The helmet contains a leather cap 11 provided with a leather lining 13 having a tightening-strap 15, and with a leather band 7 detachably secured by bolts 9 to the main body 1, which is provided with front and rear vizors 3, 5. The helmet is secured firmly to the head of the marksman by a leather apron 16 with strap 16<a>. The pistol is carried above this helmet by a steel bed-plate 17 provided with a rim 19 forming a chamber covered by a plate 21, which is surmounted by a dished top 209 secured by spring clips 210. This top piece 209 has an extension or hood 211 to cover the barrel of the pistol and to carry the " finders '' 213; when the top piece is removed, it may be used as a cooking-pan, the hood 211 acting as a handle. The hood 211 carries a pair of forked members 213 on lateral pins 217; a transverse bar or sight 219 extends between these members, and is clamped thereto at a certain distance from the hood corresponding to the distance between the barrel and the normal line of vision. The helmet is adjusted on the head of the marksman until the sight 219 is on a level with his eyes, and is then swung out of the way over the hood. A projection 223 is provided on the front vizor 3 just above the nose of the marksman, and serves as a guide to the thumb of the marksman to enable him correctly to adjust the helmet on his head.
