titleOfInvention Substituted 2-pyrrylketones
abstract Novel compounds of the Formula I, wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a straight or branched chain-alkyl radical, or an aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, alkoxyaryl or aryloxyalkyl radical, optionally substituted by a halogen atom or a heterocyclic radical, R2 and R3, the same or different, represent hydrogen atoms or C1- 5 alkyl radicals, R4 and R5, the same or different, represent C1- 5 alkyl radicals or together, with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a heterocyclic radical, and n represents 0 or 1, and their pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic acid addition salts, are prepared by reacting a halogenated tertiary amine of the formula X-CHR2.CHR3.(CH2)n.NR4R5 wher X represents a halogen atom with a compound of the formula II <FORM:1064293/C2/1> 2 - (4 - Methoxybenzoyl)pyrrole may be prepared by the action of anisoyl chloride on the magnesium derivative of pyrrole. 2 - (a - Ethylbutyryl)pyrrole may be prepared by the action of diethylacetyl chloride on the magnesium derivative of pyrrole. Therapeutic compositions with anti-tussive, spasmolytic, anti-histaminic, local anaesthetic or respiratory analeptic properties comprise compounds of the Formula I or their pharmaceutically acceptable, non-toxic acid addition salts together with a non-toxic pharmaceutical carrier.
