titleOfInvention Process for the production of foamed phenolic resins
abstract In the simultaneous foaming and hardening at a temperature of up to 60 DEG C. of a liquid phenol-formaldehyde resin composition containing a blowing agent and an acid hardener, the composition contains 0.5-5.0% (based on resin) of a pore regulator which is water-soluble ethoxylated castor oil optionally containing up to 98% of ethoxylated nonyl phenol. The ethoxylated castor oil contains 40 mols. of ethylene oxide per mol. of castor oil and the ethoxylated nonyl phenol contains 6-8 mols. of ethylene oxide per mol. of nonyl phenol. The blowing agent is n-pentane or monofluorotrichloromethane. The hardener is a mixture of glycol and hydrochloric acid.
