titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of caprolactone |
abstract | e -Caprolactones are prepared by catalytic oxidation of cyclohexanone or alkyl cyclohexanone in the liquid phase with elemental oxygen in the presence of acrolein or methacrolein and/or a polymer of acrolein or methacrolein. An example describes the production of e -caprolactone by passing oxygen into a solution in monochlorobenzene of cyclohexanone, acrolein, cobalt naphthenate catalyst and hydroquinone as polymerization inhibitor. Unsaturated saturated acids such as acrylic acid are also obtained as products of the reaction. |
