abstract | 1,061,062. Stabilizing solutions. FUJI SHASHIN FILM KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Feb. 18, 1964 [Feb. 18, 1963], No. 6808/64. Heading G2C. A composition for stabilizing a developed photo-sensitive silver halide material, comprises a solution containing a silver complex saltforming thiocyanate e. g. ammonium thiocyanate; an alkali metal or ammonium sulphite, bisulphite or pyrosulphite; boric acid; and a water-soluble borate e.g. borax or sodium metaborate. The composition may also contain a salt of the metals, Zn, Co, Cd, Ni or Au and an additional compound capable of reducing fading selected from is a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group such as a imidazolyl, benzimidazolyl, thiazolyl, benzothiazolyl, oxazolyl, benzoxazolyl, triazolyl, thiadiazolyl, oxadiazolyl, 5-tetrazolyl, pyridyl, pyrimidinyl, pyrazinyl, pyradazinyl, triazinyl or thiadiazinyl group or a fused ring system containing such a group e.g. 2-mercaptobenzimidazole, 5-carbethoxy-2-mercapto-4- methylthiazole, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, 2- mercapto-oxazoline, 2-mercapto benzoxazole and 2-mercapto-5-methyl-oxadiazole (2) a compound of formula: - in which X and Y are hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy, amino, dialkylamino, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, thiol, sulpho, halogen, alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group and p, q and r are 0-2 the sum of p, q and r being greater than 0 e. g. 1-thioglycerol, 2- mercapto ethyl-chloride, 2-diethylamino -1- mercapto ethylchloride, thioglycollic acid and 2-mercapto propionic acid (3) a compound of formula in which R and R' are H, alkyl, hydroxyl, amino, alkoxy, thiol, alkylaminocarboxyl, carboalkoxy, sulpho or halogen e.g. 4-thiocresol, thiosalicylic acid, 1, 3-dimercapto benzene, 8-mercaptoquinoline and o-chlorothio phenol. (4) a compound of formula: - wherein R is alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl or a heterocyclic group and M represents H, Na, K or NH4+ e.g. sodium ethyl thiosulphonate, sodium phenyl thiosulphonate and sodium ptoluene thio-sulphonate. (5) a compound of formula: - wherein R1 - R4 are H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, acyl or a heterocyclic group or R1 and R3 together represent an alkylene group; and X is S or Se. e.g. N-methylthiourea, N, N'-dimethyl thiourea, N, N'-ethylene-thiourea, N-acetyl thiourea, N- ethyl-N', N'-diethyl thiourea, N-(2-thiazolyl)- N' arylthiourea, N-(2-pyridyl)-N'-phenyl thiourea and N,N'-dicyclohexyl selenourea and (6) compounds of the formula: - wherein R1 - R4 are H1 alkyl aryl or aralkyl and R1' and R2' are H, alkyl or aryl e.g. thiosemicarbazide, 1-phenyl-thiosemicarbazide, 4- ethylthio semicarbazide, acetone thiosemicarbazone and benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone. |
