titleOfInvention Coin-freed vending machine
abstract 1,060,821. Coin freed apparatus. FISHOLOW PRODUCTS Ltd. Aug. 15, 1963 [Aug. 17, 1962], No. 31588/62. Heading G4V. A beverage dispensing apparatus for two beverages, such as tea and coffee, has manually operable switches the position of which determine the number of coins of two denominations that must be inserted into the apparatus to obtain either tea or coffee. The coins operate contacts to register in a relay counting circuit until sufficient are received to free the tea or coffee or both. The apparatus selectively dispenses, powdered coffee, powdered milk, powdered tea, hot water, cold milk, and sugar, into a cup which is also dispensed. Tea is dispensed with cold milk and with or without sugar. Coffee is dispensed black with sugar or white with or without sugar. The apparatus has a light for the cup service hatch, a neon lamp for an unspecified purpose, and a lamp for use when the apparatus is serviced. A counter is employed to record the number of teas dispensed and another records the cups dispensed; a " sold out " lamp being lit when all cups are dispensed. A fan is used to keep the apparatus free of condensation. Materials are dispensed by the timed control of valves as determined by cam switches. The control circuit, which is described with reference to Figs. 2 to 5 (not shown), includes relays and switch means whereby the vending price of either beverage may be set to correspond to the value of a single coin of either of two denominations, or two coins of either of these denominations or :a single coin of one denomination together with one of the other denomination. The switch means are adjustable to vary the vending price of either beverage independently of the other. The control circuit also provides that, in the event of the vending price of one beverage exceeding that of the other beverage, insertion of the value of coinage corresponding to that of the dearer beverage enables either of the beverages to be obtained upon operation of the appropriate selector and, insertion of the value of coinage corresponding to that of the cheaper beverage enables only that beverage to be obtained.
