titleOfInvention Alkylene oxide adducts of bis(2,4-diamino-5-methyl-phenyl) methane and their use in the preparation of foams
abstract The invention comprises a bis-(2,4-diamino-5-methylphenyl)-methane in which at least two NH2 groups are oxyalkylated. The products, which are made by direct reaction of the parent tetra-amine with an alkylene oxide, have the formula <FORM:1060270/C2/1> wherein R and R1 are H, alkyl or aryl and n is 0 or an integer, but is an integer on different N - atoms at least twice in the molecule.ALSO:Polyurethanes are made by reacting an organic polyisocyanate (in presence of a blowing agent if a cellular product is required) with a bis - (2,4 - diamino - 5 - methylphenyl) - methane in which at least two NH2 groups are oxyalkylated. More specifically, the oxyalkylated compounds have the formula <FORM:1060270/C3/1> wherein R and R1 are H, alkyl or aryl and n is 0 or an integer, but is an integer on different N atoms at least twice in the molecule. In examples, (a) a mixture of an oxyethylated compound of the above formula of M.W. 2018, CCl2CF2, a siloxane R1Si[O(R2SiO)p(CnH2nO)z -R11]3 in which R, R1 and R11 are C1- 4 alkyl, p is 4-8 and (CnH2nO)z contains 15-19 oxyethylene and 11-15 oxypropylene units, and triethylenediamine, and (b) a mixture of an oxypropylated compound of the above formula of M.W. 372, CCl2F2, a siloxane EtSi[O-(Me2SiO)6-(CnH2n)30Bu]3\t where CnH2nO contains 17 oxyethylene and 13 oxypropylene units and triethylene diamine, are respectively reacted with tolylenediisocynate to give rigid forms.
