titleOfInvention | New thiophosphoric esters and pesticidal compositions containing them |
abstract | The invention comprises phosphoric esters of formula <FORM:1059707/C2/1> wherein R is a methyl or ethyl group. They are prepared by reacting an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a dithiophosphoric acid of formula <FORM:1059707/C2/2> with an acetic ester of formula X-CH2-COOC(CH3)3 wherein X represents a halogen atom. The process is preferably carried out in an inert solvent, e.g. an alcohol, ketone or aromatic hydrocarbon, at a temperature between ambient and 120 DEG C. The compounds are useful as pesticides.ALSO:Pesticidal compositions contain at least one phosphoric ester of formula: <FORM:1059707/A5-A6/1> wherein R is a methyl or ethyl group in association with one or more diluents compatible with the ester. The diluent may be solid for example talc calcined magnesia, kieselguhr, tricalcium phosphate, powdered cork, absorbent charcoal, or a clay such as kaolin or bentonite or liquid in which case the compositions take the form of suspensions, emulsions or solutions in organic or aqueous-organic media such as aromatic hydrocarbons or animal or vegetable oils. The liquid compositions may also contain emulsifiers, dispersing or wetting agents of the ionic or non-ionic type such as sulphoricindeates, quartenary ammonium derivatives or products based on condensates of ethylene oxide. |
