titleOfInvention | Bz-tetrahydroquinoline-n-oxide and its preparation |
abstract | 1,059,702. Bz-Tetrahydroquinoline-N-oxide. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Jan. 15, 1965 [Jan. 15, 1964], No. 11565/66. Divided out of 1,059,701. Heading C2C. The invention comprises bz-tetrahydroquinoline-N-oxide and a process for the preparation thereof by oxidizing bz-tetrahydroquinoline by contacting the latter with an oxidizing agent, the oxidation being so controlled that only the desired N-oxide is produced. Examples of oxidizing agents are hydrogen peroxide or a carboxylic acid derivative thereof, especially peracetic acid which may be produced in situ from acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The bz-tetrahydroquinoline reactant may be prepared by that hydrogenation of quinoline described in Specification 1,038,644. |
