titleOfInvention | Monoazo dyestuffs of the benzene-azo-benzene series |
abstract | The invention provides mono-azo dyes free from sulphinic and carboxylic acid groups and which are of general formula <FORM:1059119/C4-C5/1> in which A is a residue of a cyanobenzene which may be further substituted by cyano, halogen and/or alkyl groups, R is an alkyl radical of 1-5 carbon atoms which may be substituted by chlorine or by an alkoxy radical of 1-5 carbon atoms or the group -OR2 or -NH2, R2 is the residue -CnH2n + 1, R1 is the residue -CnH2n + 1 or alkylene-COOR2, R3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy radical, "alkylene" is an alkylene radical of 2-4 carbon atoms and n is a whole number of 1-5. The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized cyano-aniline which may be substituted as above with a coupling component of formula <FORM:1059119/C4-C5/2> Alternatively, the dyes are prepared by esterification of the free carboxylic acids or by acylation of the amino group. The dyes are used for blue-red shades in polyesters, polyamides, and cellulose esters. |
