titleOfInvention | Vinyl chloride copolymers |
abstract | A terpolymer comprises units of vinyl chloride, e.g. 45-90%, a fumaric ester, e.g. 8-53%, and isobutylene, e.g. 2-20%. The fumaric ester may be an alkyl hydroxyalkyl, e.g. ethyl, hydroxyethyl, fumarate or diglycol and/or diethyl fumarate. The terpolymer may have a number average molecular weight of 1000-25,000. The terpolymer may be prepared by polymerizing the monomers in methyl isobutyl ketone or in bulk using azobisisobutyronitrile as catalyst. |
