abstract | Arginine aspartate is prepared by passing an aqueous solution of an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of aspartic acid over a strongly basic ion-exchange resin of the quaternary ammonium type, e.g. polystyrene trimethylbenzyl ammonium resin, in order to absorb the aspartic anion on the resin and to transform the latter into the aspartic acid form, then passing an aqueous solution of a mixture of mono- and diacid addition salts of arginine, the mixture containing the mono- and di-acid addition salts in a ratio of at least 2: 1, over the aspartic acid form resin as an eluant solution, collecting the eluate, and recrystallizing arginine aspartate therefrom. |
