titleOfInvention | Methods of producing polymeric materials by polymerization using a photo-initiator |
abstract | Polymers are made by subjecting a polymerizable composition comprising an ethylenically unsaturated monomeric compound and triphenyl-stibine, or triphenylarsine, or triphenylbismuthine, to ultra-violet radiation within the wavelength range of 1,849 to 4,000 Angstroms. The Specification mentions a large number of monomers selected from acrylics, styrenes, vinyl esters, halogen-substituted ethylenic hydrocarbons, and vinyl heterocyclics. Exemplified monomers are styrene and glycidyl methacrylate. The polymerizable composition may be applied to a substrate and the polymerization effected in situ to give a coated substrate. |
