titleOfInvention Azepine derivatives
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1040739/C2/1> wherein X represents the ethylene or vinylene group, R represents hydrogen, an acyl radical or an alkoxycarbonyl radical of at most 4 carbon atoms, R1 represents a C1- 12 alkyl and R2 represents a C1- 4 alkyl radical, and acid addition salts thereof. The compounds are prepared by (a) alkylating a 3-amino-5-acyl- or 3-amino-5-alkoxycarbonyl - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine, or a 3 - alkylamino - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine or a 10,11-dihydro derivative thereof or by reducing and alkylating in one step a 5-acyl- or 5-alkoxy-carbonyl - 3 - nitro - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine or a 10,11-dihydro derivative thereof and, if desired, hydrolysing a 5-acyl-3-dialkylamino-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine or a 10,11-dihydro derivative so obtained into a 3-dialkylamino-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine or a 10,11-dihydro derivative thereof, or (b) alkylating a 3-amino-5-acyl-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine or a 10,11-dihydro derivative thereof with an alkylating agent to form a (5 - acyl - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine - 3 - yl) - trialkyl ammonium compound or a 10,11-dihydro derivative thereof and then dealkylating and hydrolysing the ammonium compounds so formed in one step to form a 3-dialkylamino-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine or 10,11-dihydro derivative. 3-Methyl-ethylamino - 10,11 - dihydro - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine and 3-diethylamino-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine are prepared by reducing 3 - acetylmethylamino - 10,11 - dihydro - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine or 3-acetylethylamino-10,11-dihydro - 5H - dibenz[b,f]azepine (themselves produced by reacting the appropriate secondary amine with acetyl chloride) with lithium aluminium hydride.
