titleOfInvention | 1,4 - benzodioxan derivatives |
abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1038335/C2/1> wherein the ring A may be substituted by halogen atoms or alkyl groups containing 1-6 carbon atoms and the hydrates thereof. The compounds are prepared by (1) the interaction of 2 - acetyl - 1,4 - benzodioxan and selenium dioxide, optionally in the presence of an inert diluent; or (2) the interaction of a compound <FORM:1038335/C2/2> where X is a halogen atom, with a dialkyl sulphoxide, an amine oxide, phosphine oxide or an azoxy compound, optionally in the presence of an inert diluent. Examples relate to 1,4 - benzodioxan - 2 - ylglyoxal and the hydrate thereof. |
