titleOfInvention A process for the production of foam materials containing urethane groups
abstract A compound of the formula <FORM:1037376/C2/1> wherein R is -CH2-CH-OH-CH3 is prepared by the reaction of urea, ethylene diamine and propylene oxide in the mole ratio 1:2:6, in two stages, the first of which being the interaction of the propylene oxide and ethylene diamine followed by the further reaction of this product with urea.ALSO:A process for the production of foam materials containing urethane groups comprises reacting compounds containing hydroxyl groups with polyisocyanates and water and/or other e.g. saturated or unsaturated low boiling hydrocarbons, blowing agents, wherein compounds of the general formula <FORM:1037376/C3/1> are wholly or in part used as compounds containing hydroxyl groups, in which formula R represents like or different hydroxyalkyl groups with at least two carbon atoms, R1 like or different alkylene groups with at least two carbon atoms, A like or different divalent aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radicals which can be linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated or also contain hetero atoms, X a hydrogen atom or the grouping -(R1O)n-R, n being equal to zero or an integer from 1 to 50, and p and q each being an integer from 1 to 5. Compounds of the above formula are the reaction products of polyamines with olefine oxides and ureas. Tertiary amines may be present as catalysts and there may also be present an emulsifier, e.g. castor oil, castor oil sulphuric ester or alkylene oxide adducts of hydroxy or amino compounds. The Specification describes the production of the polymeric urea based intermediates wherein the amine residues are derived from ethylene diamine, tetra-and hexamethylene diamines, hexa-hydrophenylene diamine, dipropylene triamine, and the hydroxy alkyl group precursors are propylene oxide, 1,2-butylene oxide, and the use of these in recipes which include polyesters based on phthalic anhydride, adipic acid, oleic acid, trimethylol propane, a trace of polysiloxane polyalkylene glycol ester, sodium castor oil sulphonates, 4,41-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, permethylated aminomethyl piperazine, and permethylated diethylene triamine, monofluorotrichloromethane, propoxylated trimethylol propane, propoxylated orthophosphoric acid, and trichloroethyl phosphate.
