abstract Novel aryl-bis(t-alkylamino)phosphines and quaternary derivatives thereof of formulae I and II <FORM:1037025/C2/1> and <FORM:1037025/C2/2> where R1 and R2 are C1- 18 t-alkyl, Y is H, halogen or C1- 4 alkyl, R3 is C1- 20 alkyl, C3- 16 alkenyl or <FORM:1037025/C2/3> where A and B are each H, Cl or C1- 12 alkyl and together contain not more than 13 C, and X is an anion, are prepared by reacting YC6H4PCl2 with at least one t-alkylamine and quaternizing if desired. Tolyldichlorophosphine, n - butylphenyl - dichlorophosphine and chlorophenyldichlorophosphine are prepared by reacting toluene, n-butyl-benzene and chlorobenzene respectively with PCl3 in the presence of AlCl3.ALSO:Pesticidal compositions having algaecidal and fungicidal activity comprise organophorphorus compounds of formulae I and II <FORM:1037025/A5-A6/1> <FORM:1037025/A5-A6/2> where R1 and R2 are C1-18 t-alkyl, Y is H, halogen or C1-4 alkyl, R3 is C1-20 alkyl, C3-16 alkenyl or <FORM:1037025/A5-A6/3> where A and B are each H1Cl or C1-12 alkyl and together contain not more than 13 C, and X is an anion. Granules, dusts, solutions, emulsifiable concentrates, wettable powers and aerosols are specified.
