titleOfInvention Medicinally useful isoquinoline derivatives and pharmaceutical preparations containing same
abstract The invention comprises isoquinoline derivatives of general formula <F\1> wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl groups, R3 is 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic group containing S, N or O as the hetero atom and which is joined at one of its carbon atoms, and S denotes substitution comprising up to three alkoxy substituents (two of which in ortho relationship may form an alkylenedioxy group) and wherein the broken lines denote that the chain-alkyl substitution is optional, and acid addition salts thereof. The isoquinolines may be prepared by the condensation of an N-oxide of general formula <F\2> wherein S and the broken line have the significance above, with a vinyl compound of general formula [R2 or H]-CH=CH-R3 wherein R2 and R3 have the significance given earlier, and either hydrogenolysing the 1,5,6,10btetrahydro - 2H - isoxazolo - [3,2-a] isoquinoline formed or an acid addition salt thereof and Nalkylating, or, except where a vinyl compound of the third general formula above in which R2 is a nitrogen containing heterocyclic group is used, N-alkylating the 1,5,6,10b-tetrahydro2H - isoxazolo - [3,2-a] isoquinoline and hydrogenolysing the product, and in either case if desired converting the product into an acid addition salt. Pharmaceutical compositions which can be administered enterally or parenterally in the form of tablets, pills, powders, granulates, emulsions, solutions or suspensions or capsules contain a compound of the first general formula above as the active ingredient.
