titleOfInvention Process for the production of a stabilized disinfectant and bactericidal composition
abstract A stabilized silver solution is prepared by reacting silver oxide with at least one alkali metal persulphate in an aqueous medium and heating the reaction mass up to 80 DEG C. in order to bring the oxide into aqueous suspension. Preferred persulphates are sodium and potassium persulphate, and when these persulphates are used the product produced is a stabilized homogeneous solution comprising silver ions, potassium or sodium sulphate and possibly minute quantities of silver oxide, silver sulphate and free silver of microparticulate size. Mixtures of silver oxide with silver sulphate, zinc sulphate, copper oxide, copper sulphate or zinc oxide may also be used. Potassium orthophosphate or pyrophosphate may be used with said alkali metal persulphate as buffer. This solution may be used as a bactericide in the treatment of drinking water.ALSO:A composition having disinfectant and bactericidal properties which may be used as fungicide, veterinary composition, germicide, insecticide, pesticide, cleansing and deodorising agent for animal bowels, douching agent and as a contraceptive and antiseptic solution for feminine hygiene is produced by reaching silver oxide, in an aqueous medium, with at least one alkali metal persulphate, and heating the reaction mass up to 80 DEG C. Mixtures of silver oxide with silver sulphate, zinc sulphate, copper oxide, copper sulphate or zinc oxide may also be used. Potassium orthophosphate or pyrophosphate may be used with said alkali metal persulphate as a buffer. The composition may be combined with other bactericides, disinfectants, fungicides, vitamins, hormones and medicines.
