Liquids, treating with.-In treating textiles with foam produced by injecting air into suitable solutions as described in the parent Specification, substances which determine the formation of foam are added to the bath. Suitable substances are tannin, quillaia, myrrh, soapwort, gambier, sumach, quercitron, aesculin, haematin, or other saponins, glues, resins, or tannins. The substances are added to baths used for weighting, mordanting, dyeing, fixing, or bleaching. The baths may be acid, neutral, or alkaline. In weighting silk, the silk is immersed in foam prepared from a solution of tin chloride containing extract of soapwort, and is then washed in water, which may be formed into foam, treated in a foam produced from a solution of disodium phosphate, washed, and further weighted in foam of silicate solution or of aluminium sulphate solution. |
