abstract | Novel lithium alkanolamides of the formula LiO-Z-Nr2, wherein Z is a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of no more than 30 carbon atoms and substitution products thereof in which each substituent group is -OLi, -OR1 or -NR2 and there are at least 2 and no more than 4 carbon atoms between said valencies, R1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl or acyl radical, R represents hydrogen or a substituted alkyl radical in which each substituent radical is -OLi, -OR1 or -NR112, R11 represent hydrogen or an alkyl radical, the alkyl or alkyl substituted radicals represented by R, R11 and R111 having no more than 20 carbon atoms, the total number of carbon atoms in said alkanolamides being no more than 60, the number of lithium and nitrogen atoms each being no more than 3 and the number of oxygen atoms being no more than 6, are prepared by reacting the corresponding amines with lithium hydroxide. |
