abstract | 2 - Ethoxy - 4 - acetylaminotoluene is prepared by reacting 2-ethoxy-4-aminotoluene hydrochloride with acetic anhydride. Similarly, 2-ethoxy - 4 - propionylaminotoluene, 2 - methoxy-4 - acetylaminotoluene, 2 - ethylthio - 4 - acetylaminotoluene and 2 - allyloxy - 4 - acetylaminotoluene are obtained from the corresponding 2-substituted-4-amino compound. 2-Ethoxy-4-benzoylaminotoluene is prepared by reacting 2-ethoxy-4-aminotoluene hydrochloride with benzoyl chloride. Similarly, 2-methoxy-4-benzoylaminotoluene, 2 - allyloxy - 4 - benzoylaminotoluene and 2 - ethylthio - 4 - benzoylaminotoluene are prepared from the corresponding 2-substituted-4-amino toluene. These compounds are useful in the treatment of coccidiosis in commercially reared poultry (see Division A5).ALSO:Compositions useful in the treatment of coccidiosis comprise a solid non-toxic diluent or carrier, poultry feed or feed supplement in which is dispersed a compound of general formula <FORM:1033909/A5-A6/1> wherein X is an oxygen or sulphur atom, R is a C1-C5 alkyl or C2-5 alkenyl radical and B is a nitro, amino, C1-5 alkylamino, C1-6 alkanoylamino or benzoylamino radical. Optionally, there may also be present other known coccidiostats. Specified examples of such known coccidiostats are amprolium, nicarbazin, glycarbylamide, 3, 5-dinitrobenzamide and 2-methyl-3, 5-dinitrobenzamide. |
