titleOfInvention Peroxides and process for their manufacture
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1032645/C2/1> where Y is CO or SO2; R1, R2 and R3 are saturated or unsaturated alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl of up to 12 carbon atoms which may be substituted, e.g. by F, Cl, NO2 or alkoxy and R1 may be hydrogen; R4 is an aliphatic, alicyclic, araliphatic or heterocyclic radical (the latter having 4 or 5 C and 1 O in the ring); or R2 and R3 form, with NY as NCO, a 5- to 7-membered ring or a dicarboxylic acid imide ring; and their production by reacting R1CH: CHN(R2)YR3 with R4OOH in the presence of an inorganic acid halide, an organic acid halide, a sulphonic acid, hydrogen chloride or a Lewis acid (e.g. SO2Cl2, SOCl2, POCl3, CH3COCl, PhSO3H, p-CH3C6H4SO3H BF3, AlCl3 or AlBr3). Solvents may be used. Examples and reactants are given. The compounds are anthelmintic, and can be used as radical donors in the polymerization of unsaturated compounds such as N-vinyl-N-alkylacetamides.
