titleOfInvention | Diene elastomers |
abstract | A diene elastomer which has been cyclized at 20 DEG to 200 DEG C. to give a C = C content not greater than 20% and not less than 1% lower than that of the non-cyclized diene polymer and having a Mooney value (ML 4-100) between 10 and 100 is prepared by heating at 20 DEG to 200 DEG C. the non-cyclized diene polymer in the presence of a cyclizing agent. The cyclizing agent may be an inorganic acidic compound, a Lewis acid, a metallorganic compound or a metal complex compound, e.g. p-toluene sulphonic acid, titanium tetrachloride, aluminium ethyl-dichloride, phosphorus oxychloride, tin tetrachloride or boron trifluoride etherate and may be the inactivated polymerization catalyst. Inactivity agents may be water, an alcohol, a carboxylic acid, or a resinic acid, e.g. rosin acid. |
