abstract Vitamin-B12 compounds are prepared by anaerobic fermentation of a propionibacterium shermanii mutant 104/b (deposited in the State Hygienic Institute, Hungary, under No. 630,903/24). The fermentation may be carried out in an aqueous nutrient medium containing 2-7% corn steep liquor and an amount of bread hydrolysate corresponding to 2-10% of glucose. Examples are given.
