titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to 16-aminomethyl-17-alkyl-testosterone and -isotestosterone derivatives
abstract The invention comprises compounds of formulae <FORM:1031080/C2/1> wherein R is a methyl or ethyl group and R1 and R2 are C1- 6 alkyl groups or -NR1R2 forms a heterocyclic amino-group, acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts thereof, and their preparation by reaction of a corresponding 3 - hydroxy - 17 - keto - compound with a Grignard reagent followed by hydrolysis and, if desired, by oxidation to the corresponding 3-keto compound. The compounds of the invention have anti-anabolic and anti-androgenic activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration, such as tablets, capsules, pills, troches, solutions and suspensions.
