titleOfInvention Improvements relating to the dyeing or printing of cellulose acetate material and ofpolymeric and copolymeric acrylonitrile, and the dyed or printed products
abstract Dyeing or printing cellulose acetate or triacetate or acrylonitrile polymers or copolymers by applying a composition containing at least one water-soluble acid wool dye, (1) at least one mono-or poly-nuclear aromatic compound substituted at the aromatic ring by an -OH, -COOH or -CHO group, (2) an amide, hydrazide or imide or an organic thiocarboxylic acid or tantomers thereof optionally N-substituted or corresponding amide derivatives of mono-and di-thiocarbonic acids including imides and nitriles of hypothetical orthoacids of this class, and (3) a thickener and thereafter heating or steaming the so treated goods. Exemplified (1) are benzoic acid, amino-and nitrobenzoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, p-phenylphenol, resorcinol and benzaldehyde and exemplified (2) are thiourea, thioacetamide, ethyl isothiourea, potassium rhodamide, N, N, N1, N1-tetramethylthiuram disulphide and thiosemicarbozide. The dye composition may also contain acids, e.g. formic or acetic acid and solvents, e.g. methanol, ethanol, benzyl alcohol, ethylene glycol, thiodiethylene glycol or glycerin. Examples are given and a large number of dyes are specified.
