abstract The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1025902/C2/1> wherein R is a C2- 8 alkenyl group and R1 is H, a C2- 8 alkenyl group or a C1- 8 alkyl group and the preparation thereof by oxidizing the corresponding free base with a perbenzoic acid of the formula <FORM:1025902/C2/2> where n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 5 and X is a halogen atom, a C1- 8 alkyl or alkoxy group or a nitro group. N2, N2, N4-Triallylmelamine is prepared from 2-amino-4-chloro-6-dialcylamino-1,3,5-triazine and allylamine. Similarly is prepared N2-Allylmelamine from 2,4-diamino-6-chloro-1,3,5-triazine.ALSO:Hypotensive compositions comprise compounds of the formula <FORM:1025902/A5-A6/1> wherein R is a C2-8 alkenyl group and R1 is H, a C2-8 alkenyl group or a C1-8 alkyl group, in unit dosage form, containing 1-350 mg of active ingredient per dosage unit, in association with a pharmaceutical carrier. The composition may also include known diuretics, sympathetic blocking agents, ganglion blocking agents, reserpine type drugs, tranquillisers, sedatives, muscle relaxants, antihistamines or other hypotensive agents. Examples are given of the preparation of tablets, capsules, and solutions for oral or parenteral administration.
