titleOfInvention Nitrobenzotrichlorides and process for their manufacture
abstract Cellulos-reactive dyes are prepared by reacting chlor- and/or fluor-substituted nitrobenzoyl chlorides with dyestuffs containing amino groups. Specified products have the formulae <FORM:1024656/C4-C5/1>ALSO:The invention comprises nitrobenzotrichlorides substituted by up to four Cl and/or F atoms and a process for making them by reacting the appropriate benzotrichloride at -20 DEG to +42 DEG C. with 95-98% nitric acid or with nitric-sulphuric acid which may contain up to 30 weight per cent SO3 or H2O, based on the sulphuric acid present. The process may also be used to prepare nitrobenzotrichloride itself. The products may be reacted with H2O in presence of FeCl3 to give the corresponding acid chlorides.
