titleOfInvention Stabilization of halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons
abstract Halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g. trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene, dichlorethylene and vinylidene chloride, which may be used for cyclic degreasing and cleaning processes are stabilized against photo-oxidation by adding at least one ketimine or imino-ethane of general formula <FORM:1023382/C4-C5/1> in which each of R1, R2 and R3 represents an alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy or alkenoxy group, each group containing less than 8 carbon atoms and being unsubstituted or halogen substituted, e.g. fluorine substituted, or in which R3 represents a hydrogen atom and R1 and R2 are as defined. The groups R1, R2 and R3 may have a conjugated double bond with one of the imine function, or the group R3 linked to the N atom of the imine may be a branched chain group. Compounds specified are 1-ethoxy ethanimine, 1-ethoxy propanimine, 1-n-propoxy ethanimine, N-isopropyl 2-propanimine, N-isobutyl 2-propanimine, N-methyl-2-butanimine and N-propyl-2-butanimine. Other stabilizers such as phenols, esters, aliphatic alcohols and a -epoxy compounds may also be present.ALSO:Stabilizers for halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene, dichlorethylenes and vinyl dene chloride comprise at least one ketimine or imino-ether of general formula: <FORM:1023382/C2/1> in which each of R1, R2 and R3 represents an alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy or alkenoxy group, each group containing less than 8 carbon atoms and being unsubstituted or halogen substituted, e.g. fluorine substituted, or in which R3 represents a hydrogen atom and R1 and R2 are as defined.
