The new compound cis, cis-cyclodecadiene-1,6 is prepared by isomerization of trans,cis-cyclodecadiene-1,5 in the presence of a metal of Group VIII. Isomerization is effected at 0-100 DEG C. using a Raney metal or platinum or palladium prepared under hydrogenating conditions, e.g. by reducing a compound of the metal with a hydride or an organometallic compound of a metal of the main Groups I-III or the metal itself or by decomposing a labile olefin- or acetylene-p -complex of platinum or palladium or nickel by heat or reduction. A solvent such as hexane, cyclohexane, benzene, ether or alcohol where Raney metals are employed. The preparation of the starting material is described in Specification 977,108. |
