titleOfInvention Process for the production of impact-resistant polyvinyl chloride
abstract Impact-resistant graft polymers are made by polymerizing vinyl chloride containing 5 to 40%, based on the weight of the total mixture, of a copolymer of ethylene with vinyl acetate or an acrylic ester. Also present during polymerization may be 5 to 20%, based on the weight of monomeric material, of vinyl acetate, an acrylic ester or a maleic ester. The examples describe dissolving ethylene-vinyl acetate and ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymers in vinyl chloride and polymerizing the resulting mixtures in suspension in water with the aid of benzyl peroxide.
