abstract The invention comprises an ester of 1a ,2a -methylene - D 3 - androstene - 3,17b - diol of the general formula <FORM:1019569/C2/1> wherein R1 and R2 each represent the acyl radical of an organic acid and may be the same or different, and a process for the manufacture thereof wherein a 1a ,2a -methylene-androstan-17b - ol - 3 - one or 17b - ester thereof is reacted with (a) isopropenyl acetate in the presence of an acid catalyst or in the presence of an alkali metal acetate; or (b) an acid anhydride in the presence of an acid catalyst or in the presence of an alkali metal salt of the acid corresponding to the anhydride; or (c) an acid chloride.
