titleOfInvention | Water-insoluble azo dyestuffs containing nitrophenyl-hydrazone residues |
abstract | The invention comprises water-insoluble azo dyes free from water-solubilizing groups and containing in the diazo and/or coupling component at least one nitrophenylhydrazone residue linked to a carbon atom not already linked to an azo group. The dyes are prepared by reacting an azo dye free from water-solubilizing groups but containing at least one aldehyde or ketone group linked to a carbon atom not already linked to the azo group with a nitro-phenylhydrazine. Alternatively the dyes are prepared by the usual coupling processes using components containing at least one nitro-phenylhydrazone group. The dyes may be used as pigments in the spin-dyeing of synthetic fibres and to colour lacquers. In examples the preparation of mono- and dis-azo dyes is described. |
