abstract | Additives for fuel oils, hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils, cutting oils and greases have the formula (I) <FORM:1016513/C4-C5/1> wherein one of R1 and R2 is C8- 20 alkyl and the other is the same or H; R4 and R5 are H or C1- 7 alkyl; R3 is H, -CH2CH2SO3M, C1- 20 alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or abietinyl; M is H or a cation; x and y are 1 or 2.ALSO:Compounds used in protecting metals in acid treating baths, apparently rust inhibitors, have the formula (I) <FORM:1016513/C6-C7/1> wherein one of R1 and R2 is C8-20 alkyl and the other is the same as H3, R4 and R5 are H or C1-7 alkyl; R3 is H, -CH2CH2SO3M, C1-20 alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or abietiryl; M is H or a cation; x and y are 1 or 2.ALSO:Compounds of Formula (I) <FORM:1016513/C2/1> are made by reacting together formaldehyde, an alkylphenol (II) and a taurine (III). One of R1 and R2 is <FORM:1016513/C2/2> <FORM:1016513/C2/3> C8-20 alkyl and the other is the same or H; R4 and R5 are H or C1-7 alkyl; R3 is H, -CH2-CH2SO3M, C1-20 alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or abietinyl; M is H or a cation; x and y are 1 or 2. In examples, formaldehyde is reacted with N-methyltaurine and dodecylphenol, nonylphenol, 2,4-diamylphenol or diisobutylphenol; and with N-heptyltaurine and nonylphenol.ALSO:Air-entraining agents for concrete or cement have the formula (I) <FORM:1016513/C1/1> wherein one of R1 and R2 is C8- 20 alkyl and the other is the same or H; R4 and R5 are H or C1- 7 alkyl; R3 is H, -CH2CH2SO3M, C1- 20 alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or abietinyl, M is H or a cation; x and y are 1 or 2. |
