titleOfInvention Disazo dyes, their production and use
abstract The invention comprises water-insoluble disazo dyes of formula <FORM:1015934/C4-C5/1> wherein Y is a chlorine or bromine atom and each of X1 and X2 is the radical of a coupling component free of sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups. The dyes are prepared by coupling a tetrazotized 4,41 - diamino - 3,31,5,51 - tetrahalodiphenyl with 2 mols. of a coupling component or a mixture of coupling components. Specified coupling components include aceto-acetylamino-benzenes, 5-pyrazolones and 2-naphthol-3-carboxylic acid amides. The dyes may be used to colour cellulose materials, synthetic resins (see Division C3), and rubber or to print textiles or paper in yellow, orange or red shades.ALSO:Polyvinyl chloride films and cellulose lacquers are coloured in yellow to red shades by incorporating a disazo dye of formula <FORM:1015934/C3/1> wherein Y is a chlorine or bromine atom and each of X1 and Y2 is the radical of a coupling component free from sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups (see Division C4).ALSO:4,41 - Diamino - 3,31 - dibromo - 5,51 - dichlorodiphenyl is prepared by brominating 4,41-diamino -5,51-dichloro-diphenyl.
