titleOfInvention Organo-polysiloxane oil emulsions
abstract In making a stable water-dilutable impregnating liquor composed of an aqueous emulsion of an organopolysiloxane oil and an acid-stabilized aqueous solution of an addition product of a polyepoxide and a polyamine, the solution of the addition product is combined immediately with the siloxane oil before emulsifying to yield a stock emulsion containing from 20 to 50% by wt. of the oil. The siloxane oils used may be hydroxy- or trimethylsiloxy-terminated dimethylsiloxanes or alkylhydrogen siloxanes, or mixtures of the latter with either of the others, as described in Specifications 680,265 and 766,864; a primary aminocarboxylic acid is preferably added to stabilize the alkylhydrogen siloxane, when used, as described in Specification 967,614. The addition products are described in Specification 933,729. Siloxane curing catalysts and other additives such as alkali metal salts of trichloroacetic acid and ammonium, morpholine and zinc acetates, as described in Specification 933,730, may also be added. In a typical Example (1) glycocoll, a colloidal aqueous solution of the addition product of hexamethylenediamine, and the diglycidyl ether of 2,2 - bis - (p - hydroxyphenyl) - propane, and hydrochloric acid, were added to a solution in tetrabromoethane of two a ,o -dihydroxy-dimethylsiloxanes of different viscosities and a methylhydrogen siloxane, and the resulting mixture was then homogenized, gradually stirred into water, passed through an emulsifier and finally diluted with water to yield a stable emulsion. Uses.-For treating filaments and fabrics.
