abstract Dyeable polyolefins are prepared by incorporating in polyolefins a silica-containing compound which is an ester of a silicic acid, a silicol or an ester of a silicol. Specified polyolefins are polyethylene, polypropylene and mixtures thereof. In examples dyeable products are formed from compositions of polyethylene with (1 and 2) tetramethyl orthosilicate, (3) tetrahexyl orthosilicate, (4) tetrapropyl orthosilicate and (5 and 6) hexamethyl trisilicate; polypropylene and (7) hexamethyl trisilicate; and a mixture of polyethylene and polypropylene and (8) hexamethyl trisilicate.
