Zirconium phosphate is prepared in the form of granules by adding hydrogen peroxide to an aqueous solution of a soluble zirconium salt and then adding phosphoric acid to give a flocculent precipitate of zirconium phosphate, which is decanted, washed, filtered, dried and comminuted. The hydrogen peroxide is preferably of 110 volume strength added in the amount of 0.2 to 6 c.c. per gram of zirconium in the solution. The phosphoric acid added preferably has a concenttation in the range of 1 N. to 6 N. and is added in excess, e.g. 1 to 2 times, the quantity theoretically necessary for precipitation. |
