abstract | 1,006,877. Electro-photographic materials. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. Nov. 30, 1961 [Nov. 30, 1960], No. 42967/61. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic material has united with or at least held in contact with a conductive member or layer a photoconductive layer comprising at least one photoconductive compound selected from those covered by the following general formulĀµ wherein: R 1 and R 2 (the same or different) each represents an aryl radical or a substituted aryl radical; m, n are 0, 1 (not necessarily the same); X represents either the necessary methylene groups to close a carbocyclic ring which may be further substituted, or the necessary atoms to close a heterocyclic ring which may be further substituted; X<SP>1</SP> represents either the necessary methylene groups to close a carbocyclic ring which may be further substituted, or the necessary atoms selected from carbon atoms, nitrogen atoms, and sulphur atoms to close a heterocyclic ring which may be further substituted; and Y and Z (the same or different) each represents an electronegative group. The backing may consist of a conductive sheet or an insulating sheet with a conductive coating. Details of the backing materials are the same as those given in Specification 1,004,461. The photo-conductive layer may contain binders (and plasticizers) such as those of Specification 964,876, and may contain other (unspecified) additives for influencing the mechanical characteristics and stability of the layer. The layer may contain sensitizers such as iodoform, 1-chloro-anthraquinone, and the compounds identified in sensitizer classes A-R of Specification 964,875. The material, which may be charged by known methods, is stated to be useful for both xerography and xeroradiography. Specifications 563,173, 883,312 and 916,660 are referred to. |
