titleOfInvention Mixed azines
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1005723/C2/1> and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein <FORM:1005723/C2/2> is a fluoren-9-ylidene radical or a radical of the formula R1-C11-phenyl, wherein R1 is a phenyl, halophenyl, tolyl, or pyridyl radical; R is an alkyl or benzyl radical, wherein alkyl contains 1-6 carbon atoms, and <FORM:1005723/C2/3> is a <FORM:1005723/C2/4> or <FORM:1005723/C2/5> radical. The compounds are prepared by heating an appropriate diaryl ketone hydrazone with an appropriate 1-substituted 4-piperidone in an inert solvent and in the presence of a trace of acid, water being removed, desirably, from the reaction mixture as it is formed. The bases are converted into acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts. The compounds are pepsin inhibitors and anti-ulcer agents.
