titleOfInvention Chroman derivatives
abstract The invention comprises 2-guanidomethylchroman and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts and its preparation by the reaction of 2-aminomethylchroman with a salt of 3,5-dimethyl-1-guanylpyrazole. 2-aminomethylchroman is made from chroman-2-carboxylic acid by treatment with thionyl chloride followed by ammonia to give chroman-2-carboxamide which is reduced with lithium aluminium hydride. Therapeutic compositions with anti-hypertensive properties in the form of tablets, capsules, elixirs, suspensions or solutions for oral or parenteral application comprise 2-guanidinomethylchroman or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
