abstract The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1002248/C2/1> where each R is C1- 10 alkyl and the dotted line represents either a double bond or a single bond and an epoxy group. They are prepared by reacting a trialkyl phosphite with either <FORM:1002248/C2/2> or <FORM:1002248/C2/3> Temperatures of 30-200 DEG C. are suitable and an inert solvent may be used. The products are insecticides. The compounds [A] and [B] below are said to be novel and are prepared by the reaction scheme <FORM:1002248/C2/4> An inert solvent may be used. Perbenzoic acid or hydrogen peroxide may be used for the epoxidation.ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise a phosphate ester of formula <FORM:1002248/A5-A6/1> where each R is C1-10 alkyl and the dotted line represents either a double bond or a single bond and an epoxy group, together with a carrier, a surface-active agent, or both. Wettable powders, dusts, granules, concentrates, solutions, emulsions and emulsifiable concentrates are mentioned.
