titleOfInvention Heat-curable filled polyethylene composition
abstract A heat curable composition finding application as insulation for electric cables comprises a polymer of ethylene, a peroxide wherein the peroxide oxygen atoms are linked to tertiary carbon atoms, and aluminium silicate intimately mixed with a silicone liquid, e.g. dimethyl silicone oil or octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane. Optional ingredients are other polymers (e.g. polyurethane or chlorinated polyethylene) and antioxidants (e.g. polymerized trimethyl di-hydroquinolines). Preferred peroxides are di-alpha-cumyl peroxide, and peroxides of formulae <FORM:1001343/C3/1> The aluminium silicate or clay used may be calcined and/or rendered non-acidic before use. Specifications 594,481 and 640,067 are referred to.
